About Our Trip

Meg and I were married July 24th, 2010.  During all of the planning and preparations for the future leading up to the wedding we decided that we would like to make some big changes after the wedding. Both coming from small towns (I am from Quesnel, Meg is from Summerland), and having enjoyed our upbringings, we decided we would move out of Vancouver and into the interior. This had the advantage of putting us closer to our families and also put us in a position to actually buy a house.

Before settling down though, we wanted to have a big adventure.

So, a month after getting married, I left my job at PMC-Sierra, a company I worked for since leaving university in 2004, and Meg left Back In Motion a company she has enjoyed working for since 2008. We packed all of our belongings into a 10'x10'x15' storage locked in Summerland, and set off in our 1985 Pontiac Firefly (Derby). The rough itinerary, three months travelling through Canada and NW United states, three months travelling in SE Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam), and then, money depending, a few months driving back through the southern USA.  Along the way we hope to do some canoeing, biking, hiking, and alot of exploring.
